Glacier's Edge is the opening level for Worldslayer expansion to Outriders game where I had an opportunity to practice a lot of custom scripting solutions such as dynamic weather, sequence animation loops and custom events logic along with combat implementation and pacing.
Nearly every arena features a pre-combat enemy state briefly telling a story of the area and giving the player a moment to decide on how they want to approach the encounter.
Due to tech limitations creatures could not engage with the player along with humanoid enemies so It was decided to postpone the Behemoth fight until last Feral is killed by making him stuck in the ice and allow a brief combat with him at the end of arena
Arena features destro covers and obstacles scattered around which player can use during fight with Ferals, but they won't save from Behemoth's charged attacks.
After a short fight the Behemoth is able to free itself from the restraints and flees from the sight, only to be stumbled upon again for the final fight at the end of the level.
After a narrative cutscene player navigates through shifted enviro getting almost struck by carefully scripted Sciathan's falling on the path and allowing for some dialogues to play out.
Adjacent arena featuring anothe now creature pre-combat state and a vista towards player's objective - the Convoy, surrounded by more creatures.
This arena noticeably ramps up in intensity allowing for some traversal and flanking the enemies intriducing flying enemies and a tougher "Crawler" enemy to the mix.
Upon killing the last enemy checking for condition here to fire up a custom barrier with brief wave of creatures to lure the player into the cave passage with major combat and another narrative piece.
While looking for their crew player again stumbles upon the Behemoth's lair now being cornered and having no choice but to take up on the fight.
After leaving the cave player is faced with last flavour encounter of the level to clear the path towards the convoy with epic "Stormcarrier" creatures walking in the background.
